The Paragon E12A kiln is generally used for ceramics, porceain, firing metal clays, enamelling, fusing glass, making jewellery, and melting metals, although it has other applications. It's a 1290°C kiln with a digital programmer, in Paragon blue, or customised berry, black, jade, navy, pink, purple, or turquoise.
There are four versions with different doors: the E12A, E12A-B, E12A-W, and E12A-BW. The B versions have a bead-annealing door, the W versions have a heat resistant glass viewing-window, and the BW versions have both.
For prices, use the shop link below the menu bar near the top-right of any page. They're for UK-EU voltage, CE-marked, TUV tested, and CL and CSA approved kilns.
Xpress E12 kilns made for Cherry Heaven have easy-adjust lever door-catches. They don't, with use, become too tight or too loose.
Heavy guage long-life nickel-chromium K-type thermocouples replace the older US bead-style and sheathed-style. They respond more quickly to temperature changes and minimise the risk of corrosion and subsequent failure of the bi-metallic tip: often caused by epoxy break-down and the gases produced whilst heating some materials.
The kiln furniture comprises a solid thick durable cordierite shelf for even heat distribution, and four 12mm shelf supports: not just a thin US-style fibre shelf.
Prices include the pro shelf kit, comprehensive instructions, UK VAT, and free support from a top-tier international distributor. So you can start work straight away.

The Paragon Xpress E12A is a 1230°C, rectangular, front-opening, plug-in, table-top, firebrick kiln, with a ramp-hold Sentry Xpress 3-key digital programmer. Choose Paragon blue, or customised berry, black, jade, navy, pink, purple, or turquoise.
Paragon's kiln names often use a suffixed number to represent one or more of the internal dimensions in inches. For this kiln, 12 means that the inside is about 12 inches deep: more accurately 11.5 inches.
The UK-EU kiln is rated at 230V-240V 2700W, so it can use a regular mains socket. To comply with EU safety regulations, it's fitted with an additional door-activated switch that cuts off the power if the kiln is opened: an important safety feature included in the price. However, never get careless: kilns are very hot and connected to the mains.
The outer steel case measures 347mm x 521mm x 510mm high, excluding the safety switch fitted above the door hinge, The case is slotted for air circulation and stays cool, so the kiln doesn't need an extra stand. There's a top vent for lost-wax casting and other processes that might release fumes. The shipping weight is about 41Kg.
The firebrick firing chamber measures 196mm x 295mm x 221mm high, and heats from both sides and the back, with the fast-firing elements lying in pinless dropped-recessed grooves in the 76mm thick bricks. The kiln has an electro-mechanical relay and a long-life nickel-chromium K-type thermocouple.
The UK-EU Xpress E12A, made for Cherry Heaven, heats to 1230°C, although it can be upgraded to 1260°C or 1290°C. In the US it's sometimes called the E12T. The US Xpress E12A only heats to 1095°C and is 152mm high inside.
The programmer's electronic display prompts for heating rates, target temperatures, and hold times, making it easy to set up and re-use accurate heating, holding, and cooling sequences. The optional cone-fire mode, up to cone 10, will simplify your work with ceramics.

In the photo, you can see that the 3-key programmer is at the bottom. However, as the 12-key is larger, it can't directly replace the 3-key. So the kiln has an extra case fitted to the side, making it wider. The programmer still faces forwards.
And finally, my opinion:
The Xpress E12A is ideal for classrooms, course venues, schools, commercial studios, and professional businesses. It's a tough kiln built to last, the firebrick interior is suited to longer firings, at 1290°C it's hot enough to fire virtually anything, it heats up quickly, it's a front-opener generally preferred for small pieces, and it can hold three stacked shelves.
It's large enough for 180mm bowls, plates, and tiles, a 280mm doll, or 280mm knife blades, and can hold 12 pottery mugs on two shelves.
The Paragon Xpress E12AB door includes a 165mm x 64mm letter-box style bead-anealing door and a bead-mandrel holder. The Paragon Xpress E12AW door includes a 50mm x 50mm heat-resistant glass viewing-window. The Paragon Xpress E12ABW door includes a 165mm x 64mm bead-anealing letter-box style door, a bead-mandrel holder, and a 75mm x 25mm heat-resistant glass viewing-window. Otherwise, they're the same as the E12.
|THE PARAGON XPRESS E12A: KILN FURNITURE|
There's a recommended kit, included in the price: one durable rectangular 190mm x 279mm x 15mm cordierite shelf, four 12mm shelf posts, and 450gm of glass separator.
There are two extra recommended kits, not included in the price: one rectangular 190mm x 279mm x 15mm shelf and four posts, and one square 178mm x 178mm x 15mm shelf and four posts. You can choose 12mm, 25mm, 50mm, 75mm, or 100mm posts.
For continual use at 1290°C, the upgraded version has thicker firebricks, so the shelf is slightly smaller at 178mm x 279mm x 15mm.
Depending on the material or process, and the sizes of your pieces, stacked shelves will hold more work, free up your time, and reduce the unit firing cost: so you might want more kits. This kiln has room for three.
